Since 2022, one of our focus charities has been the TANMA Federation. TANMA is a local non-profit organization that manages five (5) non-profit groups comprised of Myanmar refugee women. Each group produces handicrafts that are unique to their group: batik fabrics and items made from fabrics, hand-pressed coconut oils and handmade soaps, embroidered fabrics and items made from fabrics, home goods, notebooks, etc. Some of the groups also run nurseries and schools to support the children and women of their group. AAM Gives Back to the Community
Since 2023, AAM has supported Greater Action. Greater Action is a dynamic, non-profit social organization and is 100% volunteer-driven. Greater Action’s mission is to improve the lives and the welfare of 250 vulnerable refugee families forced to flee their homeland by supporting them with quality education, sustainable livelihood opportunities, and much-needed general and mental health. The organization’s main focus is empowering Afghan refugee women with life and vocational skills to thrive and become self-sufficient. For more information, visit greateraction.org.
Over the years, AAM has repeatedly chosen Yayasan Chow Kit as a recipient of proceeds collected via our 2023 Fourth of July celebration, as well as the 2024 and 2025 Dia de los Muertos events, culminating in over 2,000RM. Yayasan Chow Kit is a 24-hour crisis and drop-in centre that provides meals, activities, therapy, case management, and educational programmes for at-risk children and teenagers in the Chow Kit area, Kuala Lumpur. Individual help includes dedicated social workers assigned to each child to design a customized developmental plan on a case-by-case basis, ensuring that the child or teenager receives the most relevant resources. “We really appreciate all those who come monthly to play bingo with our residents. This gives them joy and also breaks the routine in the house. With the help and support which you have given us, we are able to keep this flame of charity burning and continue to keep our door open to receive the poor and needy elderly”
— Sister Fatima Emmanuel, Little Sisters of the Poor
